About Us

I grew up in Poway, California and Tucson, Arizona where my family still lives. My dad made sure your luggage made it on the plane, and you’d call my mom to save 15% or more on car insurance. I’m a proud older (but no longer taller) brother of four accomplished younger siblings—a bodybuilder/analyst, a special forces Staff Sergeant, a teacher, and a high school junior. Through example, my parents taught us the value of hard work. In high school, this motivated me to balance a fry cook job, varsity football, and pharmacy research. As the first in my family to go to college, I was motivated to finish six years of chemical engineering degrees at Stanford University in just over four years while also working part-time.

Professionally, I started in R&D wine process engineering, and later in sales and operations at E. & J. Gallo Winery, one of the largest family-owned businesses in the US. I was promoted to lead the supply chain/planning team at Livingston, the largest winery in the world, where we managed inventory, logistics, and processing for 500,000+ tons of grapes annually.

What got me most excited about my role at Gallo and what excites me most to operate a smaller business is the human element. Despite massive uncertainty (and headaches) related to COVID-19 and a massive merger, I could not get enough of working with my team to stay a step ahead. Ultimately, what was most rewarding for me was helping them achieve their personal and professional goals. Maybe it’s the older brother mindset.

Personal Interests

On the weekends, I can be found grilling, birdwatching, or disc golfing along with my girlfriend, Rae. On Sundays during football season, I still wear San Diego Chargers gear. I love hotdogs and am on an endless search to find a dog with the perfect “snap.” If you know of any, please share!

I grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota in a large Irish-Catholic family with five siblings—four brothers and one sister. As the second oldest, I learned the valuable skill of navigating different personalities (aka stopping sibling brawls) growing up in the middle. I also enjoyed growing up around a large extended family with 29 first cousins! My first exposure working at a family business was as a pizza cook and delivery driver at Tommy Chicago’s, a local pizzeria, for three years in high school. My parents always encouraged my siblings and me to leverage sports to attend the best college possible, which I was lucky to use football to attend Stanford University as a walk-on running back.

I learned the valuable skill of humility playing backup to players like Christian McCaffrey and Barry Sanders Jr. in college. My self-described running style of “you need 1 yard, I’ll get you 3. You need 7 yards, I’ll get you 3” unfortunately didn’t get me many reps away from being a tackling dummy on scout team! My personal highlight was our 2013 Pac-12 victory and Rose Bowl journey alongside my older brother Conor, who was an offensive lineman on the team.

Professionally, I have spent my career working in middle-market investment banking and private equity with a focus on business services, industrials, and consumer companies. My favorite transactions were always the family-owned businesses, which has inspired me to try being a small- or medium-sized business owner myself.

Personal Interests

In my free time, I enjoy golfing, playing pickleball, and trying out new workout classes. I love watching the Minnesota Vikings (often losing) and college football. I am a recent proud-Godfather to my nephew, Harvey, and try spending as much time with my family’s Bernedoodle, Boru, as possible.
